Announcing the 2025 Adult Council Award Winners
At U.S. Soccer’s Annual General Meeting in February, the U.S. Soccer Adult Council and Elite Soccer Fund announced the winners of teh 2025 Adult Council Awards. These awards recognize the impressive achievements of different teams and clubs across the country’s amateur soccer landscape.
The four awards were named after notable contributors to the adult soccer space, and this year’s recipients are as follows:
Eric Wynalda Outstanding Men’s Amateur Soccer Team: El Farolito (San Francisco, California)
El Farolito made an impressive run all the way to the NPSL finals in 2025, and also received the John Motta Trophy, which is awarded to the amateur team that makes the furthest run in the U.S Open Cup.
Kendra Halterman Outstanding Women’s Amateur Soccer Team: Sporting CT (Middletown, Connecticut)
Sporting CT claimed the 2025 WPSL national title after defeating California Storm 4-0 in the final. Their coach, Tiffany Weimer, also won a NWSL title with Portland in 2013 and also plays on the current Sporting CT squad.
Tim Busch Outstanding Men’s Amateur Soccer Club: Flint City Bucks (Flint, Michigan)
The Flint City Bucks were finalists in the USL League Two Eastern Conference in 2025, and have claimed four national USL League Two titles in the last two decades.
Jerry Zanelli Outstanding Women’s Amateur Soccer Club: California Storm (Sacramento, California)
California Storm was founded in 1999, and are founding members of the WPSL. Since the league’s inception, they have claimed four championships and remain a leading club in the women’s amateur space.
