The USASA Hall of Fame was established in 2006 to honor those individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth of adult amateur soccer in the United States. Individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame include administrators, players, coaches and referees who have provided distinguished service to the USASA by contributing toward the development and advancement of adult amateur soccer at the national or regional level. Candidates may be either active or inactive in adult amateur soccer when nominated and selected individuals are inducted at the USASA AGM in the fall of each year.
INDUCTEES
Karon Beyer
Karon Beyer is a trailblazer in adult amateur soccer, with nearly four decades of service advancing the sport at the local, state, regional, and national levels. A founding member of the Cobb County Soccer Council in 1986, she established key leagues including the Greater Atlanta Coed Soccer League, Cobb Amateur Soccer League, and Greater Atlanta Women’s Soccer Association, and created the St. Nicholas Charity Tournament, which has raised over $100,000 in toys for families in need since 2010. Karon served as President of the Georgia State Adult Soccer Association (1997–2007), Adult Vice President of Georgia Soccer (2007–2009), and USASA National Secretary (2018–2025), while also chairing multiple USASA committees and volunteering extensively with Region III competitions. Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including Georgia Adult Soccer Volunteer of the Year (1989, 2019), Cobb County Parks and Recreation Volunteer of the Year (2008), and a Georgia Soccer Life Membership (2009). A coach, player, certified referee assignor, and National “C” licensed coach, Karon’s passion, mentorship, and lifelong dedication continue to shape and grow the game nationwide.
Carlos Folino
Carlos Folino, born in Argentina in 1955, has been a cornerstone of adult amateur soccer in the United States for more than four decades. Beginning his career as a USSF referee in 1985, he advanced to Regional Referee in 1991 and National Referee in 1997, officiating at the highest levels of adult soccer, including Region II tournaments, Michigan State Cups, USL Developmental League matches, and the National Professional Soccer League, as well as serving as Referee Liaison for the 1994 FIFA World Cup in Detroit. Since 2001, Carlos has served as Michigan’s State Referee Administrator, playing a vital role in referee development and contributing to the growth of officials for both amateur and professional leagues, including MLS. His national impact includes service on the U.S. Soccer Referee Committee (2010–2018), appointment as a National Assessor in 2014, and membership on the USASA Referee Committee since 2022. His contributions have been recognized with the Region II Pat Smith Referee Achievement Award (2010) and induction into the Michigan Soccer Association Hall of Fame (2014), and his lifelong passion, leadership, and dedication continue to elevate the game, making him a deserving candidate for the USASA Hall of Fame.
Andrew Marion
Andrew Marion, born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1950, has been a pivotal figure in adult amateur soccer for more than two decades. Since 2001, Andy has served as Treasurer of the South Carolina Adult Soccer Association (SCASA), transforming the organization into a well-structured, 501(c)(3) entity in good standing with U.S. Soccer, following a formative experience at the 2001 U.S. Soccer AGM that inspired his commitment to strengthening governance and operations. He also served as a member-at-large for Columbia’s Central League from 2001 to 2018 and has managed the Apollo team since 1995, one of the league’s longest-running clubs. At the national level, Andy has contributed through service on USASA’s Best Practices Committee (2010–2013), Membership Committee (2011–2015), and Budget & Finance Committee (2023–present). Inducted into the Central League–SCASA Hall of Fame in 2024, Andy’s leadership, business acumen, and long-standing dedication have significantly advanced adult soccer in South Carolina and beyond, making him a deserving candidate for the USASA Hall of Fame.
Criteria for Selection
To be considered for induction into the USASA Soccer Hall of Fame, candidates shall be nominated as either administrators, coaches, players, or referees, and shall meet the criteria specified for that category. Individuals meeting the qualifications under two or more categories may be nominated for consideration under a single category, using primary/secondary categories, or specifying multiple categories.
All nominees shall be chosen on the basis of having made a significant contribution toward the development and advancement of adult amateur soccer at the national or regional level.
Listed below is the criteria for each category. Candidates may be either active or inactive in adult amateur soccer when nominated, and are eligible after their retirement. Deceased persons, if elected, shall be inducted posthumously.
Nomination Categories
Administrator
Administrator candidates shall include persons who have served as officers of national, regional, or state organizations and, in their capacities, have rendered exceptional service to adult amateur soccer over an extended period of time. This category also includes those apart from these capacities that, by their assistance, sponsorship, or other valuable contribution, have furthered the development of adult amateur soccer in the United States.
Coaching
Coaching candidates shall be those who have served the adult amateur soccer community in a coaching capacity over an extended period of time, exhibiting exceptional coaching and teaching ability, as well as coaching success at the national, regional, and/or state levels. Candidates should also have contributed to the promotion and growth of a positive image for adult amateur soccer and its programs.
Player
Player candidates shall have played at the national, regional, or state select team level or equivalent for a combined minimum period of five years; at the regional or state level for a combined minimum period of eight years; or at the state level for a minimum period of twelve years, while exhibiting the attributes of teamwork and advanced technical playing skills, implementing tactical abilities, demonstrating an ability to read the game, and using the principles of Fair Play and respect for other players. Nominees must have also demonstrated a love and respect for the game in general and for adult amateur soccer specifically during their days as a player.
Referee
Referee candidates shall have served the adult amateur soccer community in a refereeing capacity over an extended period of time, and shall have achieved a national grade and above. Other factors to be considered shall include, but not be limited to: participation in State and National cups; participation in national programs such as the Select Program, Donnelly Cup, Veteran’s Cup, etc.; and other activities such as mentoring, instructing, assessing, within adult amateur soccer.
